Eating and Eating More..

"Eating and Eating More!”

It is the holidays and time to eat, don’t worry about the calorie count, just don’t over eat and eat frequently and remember to at least walk for 30 minutes every other day during the holiday season. Let your body and mind recover from the hours in the gym during this time and enjoy your family and friends. There will be plenty of time in your life to burn extra calories and exercise.

Have a great holiday season!

Answer to the sugar / peanut butter question:

Peanut butter has more calories than sugar. Sugar is a carbohydrate in one of the simplest forms. Peanut butter on the other hand is a combination of carbohydrates, protein, and fat. Once again “buyer - beware” of processed foods.

Some general information for counting calories

1 gram of carbohydrates = 4 calories

1 gram of Protein = 4 calories

1 gram of fat = 9 calories

Solar Sex Panel! / Baldness.

Is bald beautiful?

Good question as it depends on the shape of your head as well as your facial features.

You can blame genetics, diet, hormone levels, stress, etc.

My mother explained to me at a young age that I would never bald as her father had a full head of hair, and genetically I would not bald as I aged. This myth proved false as I am a walking testimony to the truth.

Look to your ancestors as a forecaster to your future, if you’re under 35 and have a full head of hair as I did better check your family tree. It may skip your father and mother and go generations deeper to get to the root of it, if you have roots left. As a young adolescent I resembled my mother and her side of the family. In my twenty’s and thirty’s I began to genetically follow my father’s mother’s traits. I thought for sure I would die with a full head of hair. Then 40 struck and at age 44 the reality of a thinning forest to hold along with diminishing eye site. I found myself resembling my father’s father. Scary as it seems we all change with age as well as hear the voices of our ancestors as we look to the mirror. I thank my mother for not dropping me on my head as an infant and taking the time to turn my head as I napped, to form the perfect egg shaped dome I possess.

I had a preview of my baldness as I shocked my mother at age 16 at midnight to arrive on the front doorstep with a Mohawk hairdo that was ahead of its time as it became the future sign of the punk. Soon to be shaved off and bald I had a glimpse of today. At age 24 I had another encounter with baldness as I was diagnosed with CML Leukemia and once again seeing the future as I ventured to UCLA Medical Center to preview the life changing experience of bone marrow transplantation. I decided that dying with a patchy head of hair was not going to be a good look in my coffin if the transplant failed. Being the vain soul of a human being I shaved my head bald and tanned the dome and donned an ear cuff to resemble my childhood bald hero’s such as Mr. Clean, Yul Brynner, and Telly Savalas. This at least gave me insight to my look I now possess less the earring.

Baldness is caused my many factors, the medical community tells us men it is due to high testosterone levels hence the title; “ Solar Sex Panel”. Being bald also helps with your intake of vitamin D generated by the sun, so now you know that you don’t have to drink as much milk. Genetics is the first excuse for baldness followed by what was previously mentioned diet, hormone levels, and stress.

If you find yourself a balding person and your vanity as well as acceptance by fellow humans with full heads of hair a factor, hair transplants are the in thing. It definitely beats a toupee or a wig as terms such as helmet hair can be a deal breaker in life. If you can do the bald thing than thank your mother for taking good care of you dome as an infant. Thanks Mom!
